Soul Rebels were around longer... YB even pays tribute to them in one of their songs off Center:Level:Roar, where Dave raps off a list of New Oreans brass bands that influenced them.

hell yeah they rock le bons. It's all intimate but at the same time you know it's somthing special. You gotta love bands that make their way but still stay humble and play at the same places.

This was a special Soul Rebels performance in Houston at the Libra Lounge - their last regular performance there in fact. Since this was a once-a-week gig in Houston, perhaps the entire band did not come to this performance. Marcus Hubbard and Lumar LeBlanc, and the entire band were real pros that night and set the club on fire that nite. Real privilege to meet them and see this performance.
